Objective: A leading institution in patient care and clinical research needs to obtain the greatest profit from the clinical samples of the patients it serves. Thus, it should shelter any surgical samples and, whenever possible, other body fluids (blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, liquid-based cytology, etc.) from deserving cases. However, this does not always occur. When it does occur, it is not always performed in the right way, and when it is, the samples are usually not used beyond immediate traditional analyses and therefore they are not preserved long enough to serve as a reference for future studies. The integration of a BioSpecimens Research Program into the clinical practice of such leading institutions, allows more and better discoveries by graduate students, scholars and researchers, that can be of world impact. Similarly, there is an added value for pharmaceutical and biotech companies seeking to innovate diagnoses and treatments. The specific aims being pursued for the project are: 1. Obtain the approval of the project by the Institutional Ethics Committee on Research. 2. Negotiate and sign inter-institutional collaboration agreements with the international advisers.3. Adaptations and equipping physical spaces at headquarters to build the facilities. 4. Equipping and conditioning space at each headquarter (UANL and INCMNSZ). 4. Moving the biospecimens from the Pilot Biobank to the new facilities at each headquarter. 5. Functional testing of each headquarters’ infrastructure. 6. Standardization of procedures and their accreditation. 7. Quality management system, including marketing and outreach programs. 8. Exchange of experiences with international leading biobanks. 9. Audits by the Biobank Network of Valencia, Spain. 10. Formation of highly qualified human resources through servicing thesis and research projects. 11. Negotiate biobanking services pharmaceutical companies for their sponsored clinical protocols. 12. Fostering a national network of biobanks
