Objective: The goal is to develop a Transplant Biobank for the collection, storage and use of biological specimens from patients undergoing solid organ, stem cell and tissue transplantation. It will fuel translational research in this field and will improve patient outcomes in BC, in Canada and worldwide. The project will build on the foundation created by Genome Canada, and will house the almost 10,000 specimens from donors and recipients of kidney, heart, liver, lung pancreas and bone marrow transplants currently in the Immunology Laboratory. It will create the leading source for biological transplant samples in Canada, and one of the most important such resources in the world.
