Princess Margaret Living Biobank - Organoid (sub core of UHN Biobank), Canada

Registration Status: Completed

Objective: The Princess Margaret Living Biobank (PMLB) offers Patient Derived tumor Organoid (PDO) models, and associated turnkey services for research studies. All specimens (e.g. FFPE blocks, quick snap frozen and cryo-frozen organoids) are accessioned and stored at UHN Biobank. A PDO is created when tissue/cells from a patient’s tumor are grown in 3D matrix with specific media. Once established as a PDO model, the organoid models is cryo-banked. Characterization of models include mycoplasma testing, histophathological evaluation, STR profiling and genomic profiling. Charaterization of models adhere to minimal information standards associated with clinical information of their parent tumors, multi-omics data, and the generation and use of PDOs.
