Biobanque des maladies digestives du CRCHUS, Canada

Certification Status: Approved
Registration Status: Completed

Objective: DESCRIPTION OF THE DISEASES UNDER STUDY The digestive diseases under study can involve the following organs: mouth, salivary glands, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine (cecum, colon, rectum), liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. Among the digestive diseases mainly studied at the moment we find colorectal and pancreatic cancers. DESCRIPTION OF THE BANK’S OBJECTIVES Research on digestive diseases has had a significant impact on our understanding of these diseases, leading to better treatment options, improved outcomes, and a better quality of life for patients. But further research is necessary to better understand how digestive diseases start and evolve though the body, what causes them, how to improve treatment, the mechanisms of resistance to treatments and their long-term effects. Such research requires researchers to study cells with the disease and healthy derived from patients affected by these diseases and from unaffected people. The objective of the bank is to provide research teams with biological material (blood, tissue, fluid, stool, etc.) as well as with clinical data to facilitate a better understanding of the diseases. The studies carried out on biological material and data may generate new biological derivatives (living or non-living) or data that can be included into the bank.
