Comprehensive Phenotyping of Exacerbation in CF (CPEX-CF), Canada

Registration Status: Completed

Objective: Cystic fibrosis (CF) patients develop flare-ups of lung infection, known as pulmonary exacerbations (PEx). PEx greatly reduce quality of life, can result in permanent loss of lung function, and are often treated with antibiotics. We will attempt to develop tools and mechanism to identify various CF patient populations and how they may respond during PEx using biomarkers (RNA and/or proteins). The aim is to diagnose and treat flare-ups earlier and more appropriately before permanent worsening of symptoms occur.
