The Gynecological Cancer Tissue Bank [Formation Of The Gynaecological Cancer Tissue Bank], Canada
Certification Status: Documents Required
Registration Status: Completed
Objective: The purpose of the Gynecological Cancer Tissue Bank is to improve knowledge about gynecological cancer, by making available to scientists across Canada large numbers of gynecological tumour specimens and normal control tissues for studies of cancer biology, detection and treatment. To this end, pathologist, clinicians and cancer researchers in British Columbia have formed the Gynecological Cancer tissue bank to collect tissue from gynecological cancers. Research to determine how gynecologic cancers begin, what causes them, how to treat them and the long term effects of treatments is urgently needed. The researchers at the British Columbia Ovarian Cancer Research Program (OvCaRe) are conducting such research.
