PROCURE Prostate Cancer Biobank, Canada

Certification Status: Invite Member
Registration Status: Completed

Objective: PROCURE has a Prostate cancer Biobank containing biospecimens, coupled to both clinico-pathological and epidemiologic data. This Biobank results from collaboration of urologists, scientists, pathologists and research personnel from four university hospitals in Québec province. Newly diagnosed patients undergoing radical prostatectomy agreed to sign an ethically approved consent form to participate in the project and responded to a detailed questionnaire on socio-demographic data and lifestyle habits. Blood, urine, and prostate tissues are obtained, systematically processed in a timely fashion and banked on site using standardized operating procedures. Blood, urine and clinical data are also collected at follow-up visits. The Biobank has now more than 2 000 participants and had registered more than 3000 follow-up visits.
