Princess Margaret Living Biobank - PDX (sub core of University Health Network Oncology Biobank), Canada

Registration Status: Completed

Objective: The Princess Margaret Living Biobank (PMLB) offers Patient Derived tumor Xenograft (PDX) models, and associated turnkey services for research studies. All specimens (e.g. FFPE blocks, quick snap frozen and cryo-frozen tissues) are accessioned and stored at UHN Biobank. A PDX is created when tissue/cells from a patient’s tumor is implanted directly into an immunodeficient mouse host. Once established as a PDX model, the tumor specimen is extracted, divided and further expanded in multiple mice for cryo-banking and experimentation. Characterization of models adhere to minimal information standards associated with clinical information of their parent tumors, multi-omics data, and the generation and use of PDXs.
